Friendship
Show up for each other. Not as a slogan, as a Promise.

Independent Order of Odd Fellows
A fraternal lodge of neighbors in St. John, Kansas. Friendship, Love, and Truth — lived out in meetings, shared suppers, and quiet help for this town.
First and third Thursday, 7:30 p.m. Meetings are for members, but you're welcome to share a meal with us — just ask.
Numbers matter, but they don't tell the whole of it. The rest is in the gallery and on the street.
We meet at 700 East 1st Street on the first and third Thursday of the month. Around those meetings we do the work Odd Fellows have done for two centuries. Visiting the sick. Helping a neighbor through a hard stretch. Supporting the Order's scholarship and youth programs.
We're part of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows — a fraternal order founded in 1819 to do charity at a time when charity was rare. That's where the "odd" in our name comes from. It stuck.
Lodge #539 was chartered in St. John in 1910. The names on our wall go back that far.
Three links
Every piece of Odd Fellow iconography you'll see here — the chain, the FLT monogram, the colors — points back to three words.
Show up for each other. Not as a slogan, as a Promise.
Care for the sick. Help the grieving. Make sure nobody in town is unknown.
Say what you mean. Do what you said. Keep your word.

On the calendar
Most of our meetings are members-only. These are open to anyone.
Lodge life
Photos from the last year. The people in them are neighbors, not models.
Most of our members joined because somebody they trusted asked them to. A few read about us and walked in on a Thursday. We've never turned away a good person who wanted to pitch in.
Membership isn't a certificate. It's a lifetime of knowing exactly where you'll be the first and third Thursday of every month, and who'll be sitting next to you.
“This lodge is a brotherhood, and the friendships I've made here are the kind that last. I enjoy helping the community, and using my skills to make this town a better place to live.”
Next step
You don't need a sponsor or a suit. Share a meal with us, ask anything, and see if it's a fit before you apply.
