What is Odd Fellowship?

Discover a fraternal tradition that has united men and women in friendship, love, and truth for over two centuries.

A Rich Heritage

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O.O.F.) was founded in Baltimore, Maryland on April 26, 1819. Thomas Wildey and four fellow Odd Fellows from England established what would become one of the largest and oldest fraternal organizations in the world.

The name "Odd Fellows" comes from 18th century England, where members were considered "odd" for their willingness to help those in need during an era when such charity was uncommon among common people.

Today, Odd Fellows lodges exist across the globe, united by shared values and a commitment to making the world a better place through acts of friendship, love, and truth.

The Three Pillars of Odd Fellowship

Our order is built upon three fundamental principles that guide our actions and define our character.

Friendship
Odd Fellows believe that genuine friendship forms the foundation of a meaningful life. We cultivate bonds that transcend social and economic boundaries, creating a community where every member finds acceptance, support, and companionship.
Love
The love we practice is not just sentiment but action. It manifests in our care for the sick, support for the distressed, burial of the dead, and education of orphans. This brotherly love extends to all humanity, inspiring us to make a positive difference in the world.
Truth
Truth is our guiding light. We commit to honesty in our words and integrity in our actions. By living truthfully, we build trust within our fraternity and serve as examples of moral character in our communities.
